Spain’s football community has been engulfed in a storm of criticism and condemnation following a controversial incident involving Luis Rubiales, the president of the Spanish football federation.
During the medal ceremony celebrating Spain’s women’s victory over England in the World Cup, cameras captured Rubiales planting an unsolicited kiss on professional player Jenni Hermoso’s lips.

Miguel Galán, a prominent figure in Spain’s football community who leads a national facility training football coaches, also expressed his dismay.
Galán filed an official complaint with the National Sports Council, the governing body overseeing sports in Spain.
In his complaint, Galán characterized the kiss as a “sexist, intolerable act in sport” that potentially violated both Spanish law and the Spanish football federation’s own protocols against sexism and sexual violence.
