Washington’s Unsuccessful Strategy Weighs on Ukraine

The battle to survive against Russian invaders is already entering its 18th month in Ukraine. Thanks to the aid supplied by Washington and Brussels, it is on what might be a route to success.

The required shift for Ukraine to go from defense to attack, however, has been met with resistance from the US. As a result, the misery of Ukrainian civilians is being prolonged by the war.

A lack of faith in the Ukrainian people’s capacity to protect their nation has resulted in a great deal of concern that Ukraine could push NATO into a larger fight and possibly into nuclear war.

As a result, Washington’s policy is one that only feeds the beast and does not lead to victory. In February, the Biden administration’s initial reaction was to leave the country and provide Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with a means of exit in an effort to avoid a direct confrontation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zelensky is here to fight; I don’t need a ride; I need ammunition. We will protect our nation, he continued, because truth is our weapon, and the reality is that we will defend everything because this is our land, our nation, and our children.

The battle to survive against Russian invaders is already entering its 18th month in Ukraine. Thanks to the aid supplied by Washington and Brussels, it is on what might be a route to success.

Defend our country was Zelensky’s advice, which the Biden administration quickly adopted. We now want Ukraine to prevail, was the narrative.

In order to protect themselves against Russian assaults, we are providing the Ukrainians with equipment and weaponry. Even the administration’s domestic political platform, which emphasizes the defense of democracy, complemented it.

But few predicted Ukraine’s role in Biden’s final outcome. Nobody genuinely believed that Ukraine would be able to repel the Russian invasion, much less launch a counteroffensive that could potentially reestablish the country’s borders from before 2014 and pose a threat to the Putin administration.

But now that it’s here, Brussels and Washington are quaking in their boots.
