Federal Affordable Connectivity Program: Maximizing Your Savings

The Federal Affordable Connectivity Program intends to make broadband internet available and reasonably priced for households, enabling them to address a range of needs including those related to job, education, and healthcare. 

Discounts on internet service and equipment are available to eligible households, assuring their connectivity in the modern digital age.

Maximizing Your Savings Through Discounts on Internet Service

Under this program, households that qualify can get a discount on internet service of up to $30 per month, and those who live on qualified tribal grounds can get a discount of up to $75 per month. 

Additionally, households who donate between $10 and $50 toward the purchase price can receive a one-time discount of up to $100 when buying a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating suppliers. 

The scheme, however, only allows one device discount and one monthly service discount per household.

Households must meet certain requirements in order to be eligible for the Affordable Connectivity Program, such as earning up to 200% of the federal poverty level or being enrolled in particular assistance programs.

Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch Program, SNAP, Medicaid, Affordable Housing Programs, Veterans Pension or Survivor Benefits, among others.

The program prioritizes the needs of the customer by giving them the freedom to select the service plan that best meets those needs, regardless of their financial situation.

Benefit Access for Consumers with Past Due Accounts

Consumers with past due accounts cannot be excluded by providers from the benefit or made to purchase pricey plans in order to receive it. 

For program participants, early termination fees are also eliminated, easing any potential financial constraints.

To provide broad coverage, the Affordable Connectivity Program works with a variety of internet service providers, including landline and wireless carriers. 

The FCC provides a specific procedure for processing ACP-related complaints, ensuring that customers’ concerns are addressed swiftly and effectively. This approach is available to consumers who need additional information or support.
