According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, firefighters, and an ambulance arrived at the scene of the explosion in Park Township soon after 11 pm.
Nine persons were injured, ranging from minor to critical, and were transferred to nearby hospitals.
Woman’s Death And Multiple Injuries In Fireworks Accident
A 43-year-old lady who has not been named was discovered to be unresponsive. Despite efforts to save her life, she was declared dead at the spot.
According to police, the explosion also caused damage to a number of nearby homes and vehicles.
Images shared by WOOD-TV show a damaged car windshield, debris, and pyrotechnics strewn across a front lawn.
Investigations continue into the incident’s origin. The incident is the most recent in a string of accidents involving fireworks.
According to a statement from the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, an incident involving fireworks explosions and other incendiaries resulted in one fatality and four injuries in east Texas on Tuesday morning.
Three people were reportedly hurt on Monday by a fireworks explosion on a makeshift boat in New Jersey, one of whom was critically hurt.
The event is the subject of a criminal investigation, according to the Byram Township Police Department, which spoke with CBS News.
On Sunday, a commercial-grade firework detonated in the face of a 58-year-old man in Illinois, leaving him gravely injured.

Injury Data And Risks In The US Due To Firework Blast
Also on Sunday, a firework that was shot into an Indiana man’s vehicle and exploded there caused injuries.
According to data released by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission in late June, the month immediately preceding the Fourth of July was when almost 75% of all fireworks-related injuries occurred in the US last year.
In 2022, 11 recorded fireworks-related deaths occurred, the majority of which were due to mortar-style weapons. Ages of the victims varied from 11 to 43. Injuries caused by fireworks totaled 10,200 in 2022.
