Guaranteed Income Program: Direct $500 Stimulus Payment Arriving Today

A novel program named Breathe, integrated into Los Angeles County’s guaranteed stimulus check initiative is preparing to commence the acceptance of applications.

Former foster children residing in Los Angeles County will be entitled to receive monthly stipends of $1,000. The application period for this initiative commenced on June 20.

Monthly $1,000 Stimulus Checks for 200 Selected Individuals

Breathe’s objective is to provide its residents with a stable financial situation by choosing 200 individuals who will be granted a monthly stimulus payment of $1,000 from the county for a period of two years.

The application period will commence on June 20, and applicants will have until July 3 at 11:59 local time to submit their applications.

The funds will be allocated to foster youth who were under the care of the LA County DCFS (Department of Children and Families) and are between the ages of 21 and 23.

To qualify for the assured monthly stipends from Los Angeles County, applicants must be at least 21 years old and should not have turned 24 before September 1, 2023. In addition, it is required that they have been under the care system on or after reaching the age of 18, commonly known as aging out.

Moreover, applicants must possess a household income that is either equal to or below 100 percent of the area median income for a single-person household or at or below 120 percent for households consisting of two or more individuals.

Applicants must also have experienced adverse consequences as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Individuals who are already enrolled in other guaranteed income programs will not be eligible for the Breathe program.

Selected applicants will receive the funds via debit cards, and it is important to note that possessing a bank account is not a prerequisite for program participation.
