Starting on July 22, 2023, households with qualifying children in grades K–12 would receive $120 in benefits via the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) program from the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS).
A government program called P-EBT was established in the spring of 2020 to make up for the meals that kids missed while classes were canceled or put on part-time attendance schedules as a result of COVID-19.
Eligibility Requirements for Virginia’s Summer 2023 P-EBT
According to the rules set forth by Congress, Virginia’s proposal to distribute a single $120 summer benefit payment to eligible school-age children received approval from the Food and Nutrition Service of the United States Department of Agriculture.
Children of school age who attended a school that took part in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) during the academic year 2022–2023 are eligible for the P–EBT issuance.
Children are also qualified if they were given free or reduced-price meals during the 2022–2023 academic year or if their eligibility is reevaluated.
Please be aware that children who did not attend an NSLP-participating school by the end of the 2022–2023 school year will not be eligible for Virginia’s Summer 2023 P-EBT benefits.

Card Issuance and Address Updates
Within three weeks of receiving benefits, a card will be mailed to the household’s given address for P-EBT or SNAP EBT recipients who do not already have one.
Families should call the P-EBT Call Center at 866-513-1414 or 804-294-1633 if they need to update their address or have lost or thrown away their previously issued P-EBT or EBT cards.
Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm and Monday through Friday from 7 am to 7 pm. The P-EBT program for K–12 students will come to an end with the summer 2023 issuance in accordance with the May 11, 2023, termination of the federal public health emergency.
