Tennessee Secures $813 Million Funding for ‘Internet for All’ Program under Biden

In a significant move towards bridging the digital divide, President Joe Biden has made a bold pledge to ensure that every household in the United States has access to the internet by 2030.

This ambitious goal is set to become a reality through a substantial infusion of federal funding amounting to $42.45 billion, as announced by the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).

Affordable and Reliable Internet Access to Every US Household

The NTIA revealed that the funding will be distributed among all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five territories, with the aim of deploying affordable, reliable high-speed internet service to everyone in America.

Notably, Tennessee stands to benefit significantly, receiving over $813 million from this allocation, as confirmed in a media release by the NTIA.

The funding breakdown showcases the scale of investment, with 19 states receiving more than $1 billion each to bolster their connectivity initiatives.

While some states fall below this threshold, they will still receive significant allotments to support their internet expansion plans.

The funding ranges from $100.7 million earmarked for Washington, D.C., to an impressive $3.3 billion allocated to Texas.

President Biden’s commitment to bridging the digital divide reflects the growing recognition of internet access as an essential utility for all Americans.

Access to reliable, high-speed internet has become increasingly vital for education, telehealth services, remote work opportunities, and overall societal inclusion.

By directing substantial funding towards this initiative, the Biden administration aims to ensure that no household is left behind in the digital age.

The allocation of federal funding will empower states and territories to develop comprehensive strategies to improve connectivity infrastructure, expand broadband networks, and promote affordability.
