These were made by a variety of firms, including the Daihatsu Hijet, Subaru Sambar, Suzuki Carry, Mitsubishi Minicab, and Honda Acty, according to Wikipedia.

Tiny vehicles are common sights on Japanese highways, but they are also becoming more and more popular with Americans searching for a useful, compact, and reasonably priced vehicle.

One of the businesses that import them to the US is Japan Auto Direct.

A number of Japanese businesses export small trucks to the US and other nations, including Japan Car Direct.

However, there are some limitations on Kei vehicles in the US that buyers should be aware of. Particularly more modern vehicles are subject to limitations set by the EPA and the Department of Transportation.

The majority of vehicles brought into the US are over 25 years old, which are exempt from limitations, he said.

Customers will be guided through the import procedure, which involves filling out many forms, by Japan Car Direct and its rivals.
