The US Catholic bishops made the decision to create the first bioethics standards for Catholic institutions that care for transgender patients.

US Catholic Bishops Vote to Develop Bioethics Directives
A modification to the Ethical and Religious Directives, or ERDs, which are mandatory for the extensive network of Catholic hospitals, physician networks, surgery centers, and urgent-care facilities, is proposed.

Transgender Health Care in Institutions
Christianity’s central tenet is that there is a sexually differentiated natural order that includes both male and female bodies.
The Doctrine Committee, which will draft proposed revisions, released a kind of position paper in March entitled ‘The Moral Limits to Technological Manipulation of the Human Body.’
The 14-page paper uses the word order 45 times.
Reproductive healthcare is limited nationwide by the growth of Catholic hospitals.
In the report, it is said that modern therapies to change the body for what is dubbed ‘gender dysphoria or gender incongruence are not morally acceptable, they do not correct a defect in the body; there is no disease in the body that has to be treated.
However, several specialists in healthcare claimed that the process is still in its early stages and that many bishops and Catholic healthcare professionals still hold the view that gender science is still being researched.
To date, religous health groups have taken a largely conservative stance and lacked any directions regarding trans-specific issues.
