SSI Payments: Social Security Beneficiaries Are Set To Receive 2 Checks in June

In June, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will receive two payments due to a scheduling glitch at the Social Security Administration.

The payments, totaling $914 for eligible individuals and $1,371 for eligible couples, will be issued on June 1 and 30.

2 SSI Payments

As July 1 falls on a weekend, the second payment replaces July’s check so that beneficiaries receive their payments by the first of the month.

According to the SSA, essential persons who reside with SSI recipients and provide them with necessary care receive a monthly payment of $458.

This year, SSI recipients will receive two payments in the months of March, June, September, and December. They will not receive payments in the months of April, July, October, or January of 2024. In April, July, and October, the first day of the month falls on a vacation or a holiday. January 1 is consistently a holiday.

The revised schedule ensures that all recipients continue to receive 12 annual disbursements. If a recipient does not receive the payment on time, the SSA advises petitioners to wait three business days before contacting the agency.

n June, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will receive two payments due to a scheduling glitch at the Social Security Administration.

SSI payments are provided in addition to Social Security retirement benefits. The program provides periodic payments to low-income adults and children who are blind or have another disability. To qualify for SSI, a person must be at least 65 years old, completely or partially blind, or have a “physical or mental condition(s) that severely limits their daily activities for at least 12 months or may result in death.”

Social Security retirement benefits are disbursed in three waves, with each wave divided into 10-day segments that correspond to the recipient’s month of birth. They are distributed every month on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays.

SSI payments were first issued by the SSA in January 1974, and since 1975, payment rates have increased due to cost-of-living adjustments.
