The initial Social Security Income (SSI) checks for this month, with a maximum value of $914 for individual filers, were sent to recipients on Thursday.
The payment, which was disbursed on Thursday, typically serves as the sole payment for beneficiaries.
Supplementing Regular Social Security Benefits
However, recipients will receive two checks in June due to the fact that July 1 falls on a weekend. As a result, the second check will be issued on Friday, June 30.
The amount of payment received by beneficiaries varies depending on their filing status. Individuals filing individually receive $914 per month, eligible couples receive $1,371, and essential persons who provide necessary care to individuals receiving SSI payments receive a monthly payment of $458.
SSI payments are provided in addition to regular Social Security benefits. The program offers monthly payments to adults and children with blindness or other disabilities and limited income.

Exceptional Distribution Schedule
In order to qualify for SSI, individuals must be over 65 years old, totally or partially blind, or have a physical or mental condition that significantly restricts their daily activities for a period of at least 12 months or is expected to result in death.
Although payments are typically distributed on the first of each month, exceptions are made when the first day falls on a weekend or a holiday. In such cases, the Social Security Administration (SSA) sends out the monthly SSI checks on the last business day prior to the start of the month.
This adjusted schedule ensures that beneficiaries still receive a total of 12 checks per year, with some months having two checks and others having none.
In the current year, there are four months where two payments will be delivered in the same month: March, June, September, and December. This is due to the fact that the first day of the month falls on a weekend or a holiday in April, July, and October. Additionally, January 1 is always observed as a holiday.
The SSA first began issuing SSI payments in January 1974, and payment rates have increased over the years to account for cost-of-living adjustments, as reported by the agency.
