Our lives are being impacted by climate change in every way. From heat waves that endanger our health to violent storms that destroy our houses and infrastructure.

From the anxiety brought on by increased food shortages to the commotion caused by closing schools when severe weather occurs.

Resilience Act of 2023 Combats Climate Change

Our mental health is another area that is negatively impacted by climate change and is intricately linked to it.

In the United States, more than one in five adults and more than one in two children suffer from a mental health issue.

And today, climate change is a new stressor and a danger to the mental health of a great number of people.

A bipartisan measure called the Community Mental Wellness and Resilience Act of 2023 (CMWRA) would fund precisely this kind of community involvement for mitigating and resolving the effects of climate change on mental health.

With a public health and entire community perspective, the CMWRA, which was only last month introduced, places a focus on community-based wellness and resilience through funding and collaborations with local organizations.

The greatest people to judge a community’s needs are those living in it, particularly those who have been unfairly harmed by the climate catastrophe. Via CMWRA grants and collaborations, community initiatives would create and oversee their own wellness and resilience programs, focusing on those who were most in need and at risk.
