Catholic Advocacy Group Calls for LA Dodgers Boycott in $1M Campaign against Anti-Catholic Drag Queens

In a letter to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Catholic advocacy group CatholicVote announced a forthcoming ad campaign that will call for a boycott of the baseball team.

The letter, addressed to Dodgers principal owner Mark Walter and CEO Stan Kasten, criticizes the team for planning to honor the anti-Catholic drag queen troupe Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence during an event.

Boycott Call Against LA Dodgers

CatholicVote claims that millions of devoted Catholics support their organization’s belief in the values of life, family, and freedom.

They contend that bigotry and contempt toward Catholics have no place in society. The group has set up a $1 million advertising budget to entice Catholics to support the team boycott.

The Dodgers initially decided not to honor the group following backlash but reversed the decision after LA Pride withdrew from participating in solidarity with the drag queen group.

The Catholic Vote letter requests a meeting or phone call to discuss the issue further.

Bishop Robert Barron and Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone have also expressed support for the boycott, criticizing the Dodgers’ support of the anti-Catholic group.

The organization has requested a meeting with Dodgers’ representatives to discuss the harm caused by their decision.

CatholicVote hopes that through dialogue, the Dodgers’ leadership will better understand the concerns and hurt experienced by the Catholic community.

Burch even provided his personal cellphone number in the letter, indicating a willingness to meet with team leaders at any time and anywhere.

A Clash of Beliefs and Freedom of Expression

In a letter to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Catholic advocacy group CatholicVote announced a forthcoming ad campaign that will call for a boycott of the baseball team.

The Catholic vote’s call for a boycott comes as they feel that the Dodgers have not adequately addressed the issue and have failed to consider the impact of their decision on Catholic fans and employees.

The group thinks that by backing the boycott, Catholics may express their opposition to the Dodgers’ affiliation with a group that despises Catholics.

It remains to be seen how the ad campaign and boycott call will be received by the broader Catholic community and the public.

The controversy highlights the tensions between freedom of expression, artistic performances, and respect for religious beliefs, and how different groups interpret and respond to these issues.
