Political Battle of the Ages: DeSantis, 44, Vs. Trump, 76, and Potentially Biden, 82

Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, is trying to become the youngest president in fifty years in a race where Nikki Haley has repeatedly attacked Joe Biden’s age.

The age debate in the presidential race has already started, and Biden has urged people to “simply watch me” and decide for themselves whether he is qualified for another term.

The Democratic and Republican parties’ declared candidates as well as other prospective 2024 contenders are listed below.

Ron DeSantis, who is still under 45, is organizing a campaign launch where some of the calls for starting a “new chapter” in leadership may not be necessary due to his youthful appearance.

The governor of Florida has adopted Trump’s persona, but without the controversy that ensnares the former president. DeSantis, 44, who trails Trump in most polls, has signed legislation placing tighter limitations on abortion and further easing gun laws.

These stances may benefit him in the Republican primary but would likely work against him in the general election with independent and more moderate voters.

In light of voter concerns about his age and his low support ratings, Joe Biden, 80, who is already the oldest US president in history, will need to persuade voters that he has the endurance for another four years in the White House.

Last November, Donald Trump, 76, announced his candidacy for president while he was facing some of the heaviest internal criticism from the Republican Party over his backing of far-right candidates who lost in the midterm elections.

Tim Scott, Nikki Haley and Asa Hutchinson

Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, is trying to become the youngest president in fifty years in a race where Nikki Haley has repeatedly attacked Joe Biden’s age.

Tim Scott, the sole Black Republican US senator, is not well known outside of his native state of South Carolina, but his optimism and dedication to uniting his fractured party have allowed him to stand in stark contrast to Trump and DeSantis’ more combative strategies.

Former South Carolina governor and Trump’s choice to represent the United States at the UN, Nikki Haley, 51, has highlighted both her relative youth in comparison to Biden and Trump as well as her history as the daughter of two Indian immigrants.

In contrast to many of her classmates, Haley has developed a reputation in the Republican Party as a strong conservative who can speak about problems of race and gender with more authority.

Asa Hutchinson, a former governor of Arkansas, announced his candidacy for president in April and demanded that Trump resign so that he could handle his indictment.

Using his tenure as governor of the staunchly Republican state as evidence that he can carry out the ideas Republican supporters care about, Hutchinson, 72, has taken great delight in his ability to lower taxes and promote job development.
