Google is introducing a fresh policy that could potentially lead to the deletion of your account if you fail to comply with the guidelines.
For customers that keep their Google accounts active or simply use them frequently, there is a safe side as well. Only those accounts that have not been used or signed into for at least two years will be deleted in bulk.
Google Account Inactivity Policy Update
Google has revealed that abandoned accounts are significantly less likely to have 2-step verification activated compared to active accounts, with a difference of at least 10 times.
Consequently, these inactive accounts are frequently at risk of compromise. If successfully breached, they can be exploited for various purposes such as identity theft or the dissemination of unwanted or malicious content, like spam.
In order to mitigate the threat of spam and phishing attacks, Google has implemented an update to the inactivity policy for Google Accounts. This policy now sets the period of inactivity at 2 years across all products. If you possess an old account that has been dormant for a considerable period, you may be interested in learning how to safeguard it effectively.

Simple Steps To Keep Your Account Active
Fortunately, Google’s newly implemented policy will not have an immediate impact on inactive accounts, as the implementation will commence in December 2023. Subsequently, Google will adopt a phased approach, initially focusing on accounts that were created but have remained unused.
Google will issue multiple notifications throughout the months leading up to the deletion process. Thus, if Google intends to delete your account, you will receive a prior notification.
The most straightforward method to maintain the activity of your account is by engaging in activities such as reading or sending emails, utilizing Google Drive, watching YouTube videos while logged in with your account, downloading applications from the Google Play Store, conducting searches through Google, and using the Sign in with Google feature to access third-party applications or services.
