In a meeting on Thursday with Giridhar Aramane, the defense secretary of India, Kathleen Hicks, the deputy US secretary of defense, discussed ways that Washington and New Delhi might each improve the other’s defense industries.
According to the Pentagon’s conversation, proposals being considered involve jointly developing infantry vehicles, long-range artillery, and jet engines.
US-India Deepening Ties
The growing relations between the US and India were also underlined by Ms. Hicks and Mr. Aramane.
The commitment of the two countries to a secure Indo-Pacific region as well as their technological cooperation will be strengthened by Mr. Modi’s state visit, according to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
New Delhi continues to acquire record amounts of Russian oil despite the conflict in Ukraine, and President Joe Biden has been anxious to deepen ties with India as the US seeks to offset China’s growing influence.

Strengthening Military Ties, Technology, and Defense Investments

The world’s two largest and most powerful militaries are widely believed to be those of the United States and China, with Russia continuing to hold the third position despite the fact that its military has been severely weakened as a result of the conflict in Ukraine and is unlikely to ever regain its prewar strength.
With an estimated 1.4 million men and women in uniform (compared to China’s two million, Russia’s less than a million, and America’s 1.4 million), India’s military is definitely sizable, but it lacks the same level of cutting-edge weaponry as the other three.
