Under a new effort, the White House described, the federal government will provide targeted support to five US Cities and the state of California to reduce homelessness.
According to a plan that will be presented Thursday, the administration would put a federal official into each neighborhood for up to two years to assist reduce red tape and improve access to government services.
Biden Plan to Address Homelessness in Key US Cities
Half of the country’s homeless people reside in the cities of Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Seattle, along with California.
Accordance to the administration, more than a million people and families become homeless in the United States each year, and many more are at risk of becoming homeless.
Furthermore, more people are experiencing it in open spaces like encampments.
The new program, called ALL INside by the government, intends to hasten neighborhood efforts to place homeless people in housing.
Biden wants to cut homelessness by 25% by 2025, and this is a crucial component of his plan.
To introduce the new element, Biden’s domestic policy adviser Susan Rice will meet with the mayors of the participating cities and other officials on Thursday.
Dedicated teams from throughout the federal government would assist the areas in navigating federal financial streams, according to the White House, in addition to assigning a federal official to work full-time in each community.

Government Agencies and Community Partners Unite
In order to address issues people experience obtaining various types of official identification and other necessary documents, the Housing Department is working with Veterans Affairs and the Social Security Administration.
According to a senior administration official, sending a facilitator to each community and identifying individuals within each participating agency to assist is a recognition that combating homelessness touches on many different issues, such as health care, drug abuse, transportation, and workforce challenges.
As stated by the White House, the administration is also collaborating with businesses and charitable organizations to determine how they might assist.
The administration believes that federal support can speed the implementation of homelessness reduction programs in the participating localities.
Officials hope that the program’s lessons can be used nationwide, even though there are no plans to expand it.
This may include finding regulatory changes that would make it easier for other cities to get federal aid.
