The remarks follow a brazen and terrifying threat from China’s military to the US that it is ready to resolutely smash any form of Taiwan independence.

In a lengthy interview that took place on Tuesday in Austin, Texas, with CNBC anchor David Faber, Musk made the remarks.

When asked if the US-China relationship was something he was worried about, Elon Musk responded, “I think it should be a concern for everyone.”

China’s determination to retake Taiwan, which it views as a separatist province, has never wavered.

It asserts that the 23 million-person island is its own territory, which it will use to seize control of if required.

A Chinese invasion of Taiwan would have disastrous effects for the world economy, according to billionaire Elon Musk.

According to reports, the US is getting ready to speed up the delivery of guns and other military aid to the autonomous island democracy that borders China.

Colonel Tan Kefei, a spokesman for the Chinese Defense Ministry, made a strong statement and appeared in a video that was broadcast online, calling increased cooperation between the US and Taiwanese forces a very bad and risky step.

Tan asserted that China’s People’s Liberation Army is continuing to hone its military training and readiness, will resolutely crush any effort at Taiwanese secession or outside meddling, and will fiercely protect the nation’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Beijing has conducted military drills in and around the Taiwan Strait, which separates the two sides, in addition to daily air and sea incursions near Taiwan.

These drills are seen to be a practice run for a blockade or invasion that would have severe repercussions for global security and economies.

Such activities aim to scare lawmakers and people who will elect a new president and legislature the next year, as well as Taiwan’s military.
