AI pioneer Geoffrey Hinton sounds alarm over implications of immortality discovery for humans

Recently, Geoffrey Hinton left Google in protest against the potential risks posed by artificial intelligence.

One of the fathers of deep learning and artificial intelligence, Geoffrey Hinton, thinks that humanity is in danger from the rapid advancement of digital intelligence.

Geoffrey Hinton warns humanity

Hinton, who received the ACM Turing prize in 2018, claims that he previously thought it would take decades for humans to face the dangers of AI, but now believes it will happen within the next five to twenty years.

The primary benefits of digital intelligence, according to him, include low energy consumption and the simplicity of information transmission among numerous copies

He contends that digital intelligence is likely to become considerably more powerful than biological intelligence.

Hinton contends that the rise of artificial intelligence is a necessary result of capitalism’s technological system and that it poses grave risks to society.

Artificial intelligence is currently the topic of conversation in the tech sector. And people are experimenting with different methods to use technology to their greatest advantage all across the world.

Geoffrey Hinton, the “Godfather of AI,” contributed greatly to the advancement of artificial intelligence while working at Google for more than a decade.

He and his two students developed the neural network that the ChatGPT, Bing, and Bard chatbots used as their foundation.

Yet Hinton soon became aware of the risks associated with his own invention.

Recently, Geoffrey Hinton left Google in protest against the potential risks posed by artificial intelligence.

Hinton claimed that AI poses a threat that is more urgent than climate change in his most recent interview with Reuters.

The pioneer of AI went on to say that there is still a method to combat climate change and that we are aware of what needs to be done to prevent things from spiraling out of control.

The best course of action for artificial intelligence, however, is still unknown.

He declared: “Stop burning carbon, that’s all that has to be done to address climate change. If you do that, ultimately everything will be okay. What you should do in this regard is not at all clear.”

The British inventor Sir Clive Sinclair, who has voiced concerns about the possible risks of artificial intelligence, is interviewed for the piece (AI).

While not an expert in policy, he exhorts those who are to carefully consider the ethical implications of AI.

High-profile individuals like Bernie Sanders, Chuck Schumer, Elon Musk, and the White House have all called attention to him since coming out.

Despite his dire predictions, he insists that there is still hope and offers historical instances of times when people were able to respond to a crisis, such as the cold war.
