DeSantis slams gender surgeries for minors as ‘Mutilation’ and stands firm on protecting children’s rights

Friday, Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis called a reporter a hard-right politician for opposing gender surgeries for minors.

During a press conference in Tallahassee following the conclusion of the Florida legislative session, DeSantis gave the media the opportunity to ask questions.

Fabricated Information

The reporter’s question was not fully captured by the microphone, but it was said to be about health care for minors involving sex transition procedures by Florida’s Voice.

The reporter is heard asking about cultural issues that DeSantis identified with and referring to DeSantis as hard right prior to being interrupted by the governor.

DeSantis said, “How many of these people showed up and expected to get paid? If we’re being completely honest, some of this information is completely fabricated,” “People in your industry will use euphemisms to describe the amputation of a 14- or 15-year-private old’s parts, claiming that it is a form of health care”. That’s not a doctor or a hospital.

DeSantis’s claim that his opposition to such policies was motivated by a desire to safeguard children was met with applause from a number of audience members.

The majority of the time, you outgrow these situations. 80 to 90% is resolved by the time you arrive, DeSantis said. He noted that a number of European nations had renounced their support for such policies, stating that it was not good medical practice.

“We are doing nothing but the right thing. Ten years ago, nobody would have uttered a word about the possibility that this would have been a contentious issue “DeSantis said. “And I just think, you know, when you’re discussing this, you should discuss what the legislature did. The law prohibited practices such as double mastectomies.

They prohibited actions involving male private parts that were extremely graphic. This week, the Florida legislature passed a bill prohibiting gender transitioning treatments for children, he added.
