One year has passed since Russia invaded Ukraine and started a war that altered the course of history.
The governor reported on Saturday that a fuel tank was on fire in the Crimean port city of Sevastopol in what seemed to be a drone strike.
Fire and Large Flames Caused By Russia Affect Ukraine
The governor appointed by Moscow posted the following on the Telegram messaging app: “According to preliminary information, the fire was caused by a drone hit.”
Since Russia’s full-fledged invasion of its neighbor in February 2022, Sevastopol, on the Crimean peninsula that Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014, has been subjected to numerous airstrikes.
Large flames at the scene and thick smoke billowing into the sky are shown in footage that was ostensibly captured there, amid reports of a drone strike.
A request for comment on Saturday was not immediately answered by the Ukrainian military.
Almost never does Kiev take responsibility for an attack on Russian soil or on Ukrainian territory under Russian control.
No one was wounded in the Saturday fire, according to Razvozhaev.
Our firefighters and all operational services have the situation under control. It will take some time to contain the fire because there is a lot of fuel there.
The death toll from Russia’s series of missile attacks on Ukrainian cities has risen to 25, and five children are among them.
Aerial Assault From Russia
Rescuers were sifting through the burning debris of a nine-story apartment building in Uman, central Ukraine, looking for survivors and remains.
The early-Friday volley of more than 20 missiles marks Russia’s first significant aerial assault in nearly two months.
Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the president of Ukraine, referred to Uman as absolutely peaceful and denounced the attacks, declaring that only absolute evil can unleash such terror against Ukraine.
He continued, Of the 23 Russian missiles, 21 of them were destroyed by our air force. Without this, the terrorist state would have been able to cause much more deaths and casualties.
