House Speaker McCarthy offers opinion on DeSantis versus Disney controversy

Republican Kevin McCarthy, Speaker of the House of Representatives, offered his opinion on a Disney current debate.

Regarding the argument between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a Republican, and Disney, he made it clear what he thought of it.

Disney-DeSantis feud worsens with a lawsuit

On April 17, DeSantis suggested that a prison be built close to Orlando’s Disney World amusement complex.

The dispute will now be heard in court. DeSantis was sued by Disney on April 26.

The lawsuit filed by Disney claims that DeSantis’ attempt to seize political control of Disney World’s Reedy Creek Improvement District is blatantly vindictive, plainly anti-business, and patently illegal.

On April 26, the Central Florida Tourist Oversight District’s board of directors decided to overturn a series of agreements had struck with Reedy Creek earlier in the year that would have allowed the firm to retain control over the body that oversees the special business area.

The company released a statement shortly after DeSantis signed the Don’t Say Gay bill into law, claiming that the bill should never have passed and should never have been signed into law. This is when the conflict began.

DeSantis should try to sit down and talk with the company, according to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who made the statement on Thursday.

McCarthy added that large employers should not go into politics and it should likewise play by the regulations.

This month, former president Donald Trump commented on the conflict and claimed that DeSantis was absolutely being destroyed by the company.

Additionally, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley responded to the criticism on Wednesday in a Fox News interview and via a tweet, saying Disney should relocate to South Carolina because it is not woke, but we’re not sanctimonious about it either.

Chris Christie, a former governor of New Jersey, added fuel to the Disney-DeSantis controversy earlier this month when he expressed doubt about DeSantis’ fitness to serve as president because to the conflict in a Semafor interview.

Christie and DeSantis have not yet made their intentions known.

Asa Hutchinson, a former governor of Arkansas, said this week on Fox News Sunday that the ongoing controversy is not what Republicanism is about and not what a conservative is about.
