What you can’t do with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program:
- Spend money on tobacco products.
- Spend money on booze.
- Spend your money on non-nutritious items.
- Make good on your overdue food debts.

What are the requirements for this program?
- Persons belonging to qualified low-income families.
- Most people without dependent children between the ages of 18 and 49 are limited to receiving benefits for a maximum of three months every three years. A person’s benefit period may be extended if they work at least 20 hours per week or are enrolled in an employment or training program. Adults who are disabled, pregnant, or in certain other situations may be exempt from having to work in order to receive benefits.
- The Texas Simplified Application Project (TSAP) streamlines the SNAP application process and offers benefits for three years at a time instead of six months for households in which all members are age 60 or older or have a disability.
