The first of two solar eclipses in this 2023 year will occur this month. However, this forthcoming eclipse, known as a hybrid solar eclipse, will be a very unique type of eclipse.
Some people will experience a total eclipse while others experience an annular, or ring of fire, eclipse, the hybrid eclipse is unique.
Rare Hybrid Solar Eclipse Visible in Australia
According to NASA.com, a hybrid eclipse happens because the Earth’s surface is curved. As the moon’s shadow passes across the Earth, the eclipse transitions between an annular and total phase.
At about ten o’clock at night, a hybrid solar eclipse begins that can be seen in Australia, Timor-Leste, and Indonesia (West Papua and Papua). Wednesday at 2:00 AM. EDT, it concludes. EDT on Thursday, reports news source EarthSky.
Exmouth, on the North West Cape, is the greatest population center in Western Australia to witness the eclipse in its entirety. Starting at 11:29 AM, it will experience a total eclipse for 57 seconds. according to Space.com, local time.
The best viewing location for the complete eclipse, which lasts 1 minute and 16 seconds, will be off the coast of Timor at around 12:15 in the morning. The website states that Thursday EDT.
A partial solar eclipse will also be visible starting around 9:30 PM. across Australia, New Zealand, southeast Asia, the East Indies, and the Philippines. Wednesday beginning at 3 AM. EDT on Thursday, claims EarthSky.
