Video captured : Chinese acrobat plummets to her death during performance

A Chinese acrobat who was performing with her husband fell 30 feet to her death, and a horrifying video captured the horrific moment.

The tragic accident happened on Saturday as the acrobat and her husband—named Sun Moumou and Zhang Moumou, both 37—were performing in the town of Hougao in central Anhui province.

Chinese acrobat loses grip

Sun is seen standing on her husband’s feet and then holding onto his neck while her legs hang after the couple is lifted by a rope.

She loses control in the terrifying seconds that follow, and Zhang is unable to catch her before she falls to the ground.

The acrobat was taken to a hospital and later declared dead.

What’s on Weibo, which quoted local media, claimed that the pair had been fighting and Sun had resisted wearing a safety line for the show.

The woman hung from her husband during a transition act, wrapping her arms around his head as they swung in the air.

 The audience screamed as she lost control and fell to the hard stage. The video shows her spouse trying to grab her with his legs but failing.

Acrobatic Industry Under Scrutiny

Chinese social media was outraged by videos of the tragic event. 

There was no safety net or crash mat on the ground, and several viewers questioned why the woman was not wearing a safety belt. 

Others demanded tighter controls over the acrobatics sector and improved safety measures for performers.

The examination discovered that the company did not secure necessary safety protection and emergency measures from the authorities prior to the performance.

 Also, the employment of a crane during the performance was against the rules, it continued.

According to the statement, the corporation and the acrobat’s family have reached a settlement over compensation, and they will each receive the appropriate sanctions.

In a statement released on Sunday, the China Acrobats Association expressed its devastation and astonishment at the incident and urged acrobatic troupes and artists to pay closer attention to safety precautions.
