Reports indicate Jeff Bezos will not submit bid to purchase Washington commanders

The Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos was reportedly considering purchasing the squad from its present owners, Daniel and Tanya Snyder, according to earlier reports.

Bezos is not now intending, according to individuals who spoke with Fox News and ESPN, to make a bid for the NFL team.

Jeff Bezos Wants the Franchise the Brand

Bezos has expressed interest in buying the brand, even going so far as to employ a company to investigate a potential proposal, but he never actually made a bid.

Sources close to the Snyder family refuted the allegations made in February that current Commanders owner Dan Snyder tried to prevent Bezos from making a bid.

The Washington Post, which Bezos also owns, has published numerous investigative stories in recent years that have caused problems for the Snyders.

In the aftermath of investigations into allegations of sexual harassment, a hostile work environment, and fraud, Snyder declared at the end of last year that he is looking into the prospect of selling the troubled squad.

The family apparently assigned the Commanders a value of roughly $7 billion, even though the first offer deadline was earlier this year. The club is valued by Forbes at roughly $5.6 billion.

Although the Snyders indicated they wanted to sell the team, an unnamed source previously informed PEOPLE that Bezos was in fact considering purchasing the Commanders.

At the time, a source for PEOPLE claimed that Bezos would even think about teaming up with another well-known buyer, such as Jay-Z, to make the acquisition.

Josh Harris, the owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Devils, is one of the other rumored candidates.

With his bid team, Harris has teamed up with DC businessman Mitchell Rales and Basketball Hall of Famer Magic Johnson.

Tilman Fertitta, the owner of the Houston Rockets, and Steve Apostolopoulos, a Canadian billionaire, were both said to be considering it.

Bezos’ net worth is estimated to be approximately $125 billion by Forbes. With an 8-8-1 record at the end of the 2022 NFL season, the Commanders were eliminated from the playoffs.
