Don’t lose your coverage: Louisiana Medicaid users should update their information

The Louisiana Department of Health reports that more than 2 million state residents participate in the state’s Medicaid program.

Allen Parish Community Healthcare Hospital asserts that residents must do their part to maintain health insurance. This represents about forty percent of the state’s total population.

Medicaid is sending letters to enrollees

The condition for continuous coverage that had been in place since the pandemic to expand coverage is no longer in effect as of April 1, and Medicaid is sending enrollees a pink letter informing them of this change.

People with low incomes or limited resources in the United States are eligible to participate in the federal program that provides access to medical care.

To avoid losing their health insurance coverage, Medicaid recipients must update their contact information with the Louisiana Department of Health or their Medicaid provider.

In April, when federal COVID-19 pandemic protections for Medicaid recipients begin to wane, the state will begin a massive Medicaid dis-enrollment process.

The Louisiana Department of Health reports that more than 2 million state residents participate in the state’s Medicaid program.

As a direct consequence of this modification, the state of Louisiana anticipates that somewhere in the range of 280 000 350 000 individuals will be removed from the state’s Medicaid rolls within the subsequent thirteen months.

Due to the threat of the pandemic, the federal government has provided states with financial incentives to allow millions of additional people to obtain Medicaid coverage since 2020, but these benefits will expire later this year.

Individuals whose household income exceeds the Medicaid-allowed threshold will have their health insurance coverage terminated.

People who do not verify their contact information run the risk of having their health insurance coverage revoked, regardless of whether or not they make enough money to qualify.
