The Brooklyn serial killer who fatally stabbed an 83-year-old man after he won the lottery is a man who was arrested for randomly slashing a stranger, police and friends said Sunday.
According to police sources, the assailant kicked the elderly victim for good measure after stabbing him, as captured on surveillance video.
Brooklyn suspect attacks Three Victims Within An Hour
During Saturday’s Boerum Hill crime spree, police say 26-year-old suspect Joevani Vale randomly struck a woman, slashed another female stranger, and then followed and ambushed an elderly man, all in less than one horrific hour.
Two neighbors stated on Sunday that Cintron won a game of chance prior to his death.
Unknown was the amount of money the victim may have won, but Angel reported that police informed Ramon’s family that his wallet was missing, which “makes perfect sense” now.
Vale has at least three prior arrests, including one in September 2020 for slashing a stranger in Brooklyn.
In that case, Vale was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, and assault in connection with an attack on a 36-year-old man outside of 505 President Street, Carroll Gardens.
Charges Against Vale
Vale was previously charged with forcible touching in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn in 2016 and with public lewdness in the 84th Precinct, which includes Boerum Hill, in 2015.
Police say he was identified in the murder of Ramon Cintron by surveillance cameras in the area.
Police sources claim that Vale started his alleged violent rampage at 1 p.m. when he allegedly randomly punched a woman, 47, at the intersection of Pacific Street and Third Avenue.
He allegedly randomly slashed another woman, 31, in the leg in front of 134 Nevins St. less than 30 minutes later, according to police, before fleeing.
Police claim that Cintron was found lying on his back in a pool of blood on the 19th-floor elevator of Wyckoff Houses, just a short distance from his apartment.
Surveillance cameras in the building allegedly captured Vale’s entrance at 1:30 p.m., disappearance for 11 minutes, and subsequent reappearance in the lobby wearing different attire.
Shortly before 1:45 p.m., he enters the elevator with Cintron, and the two are observed conversing before, according to sources, Vale pulls out a knife and stabs the elderly victim in the neck.
The elevator ascends to the twenty-first floor, where Cintron’s foot prevents the door from closing and where a neighbor spotted him and called 911, according to sources.
The elderly victim was pronounced dead at the scene due to slash wounds to his neck and right arm.
