Pennsylvania man was found guilty of committing thousands of rapes on a young girl

Prosecutors say a Pennsylvania man who raped a girl daily for six years was sentenced to 3,000 years, one of the longest in US history.

Matthew Perry, 44, of Greensboro, was convicted of committing thousands of rapes against a young girl over six years, beginning when the victim was approximately 5. When Perry was initially charged, she was 11 years old.

Pennsylvania Court Sentenced Perry

Last year, Greene County District Attorney David Russo stated, The victim testified that being raped daily had become routine as brushing her teeth. Throughout her testimony, the victim stated that she felt helpless and despondent and prayed to God for assistance, but no one came.

In 2017, an investigation was conducted because of a friend of the victim who witnessed the abuse and reported it to the school counselor. Because Perry was initially deemed incompetent to stand trial and admitted for mental health treatment, it took years for the case to reach trial.

Ultimately, prosecutors decided to charge Perry with one count for each day the child was raped, resulting in over 13,000 felony counts, including 2,190 counts of rape against children under the age of 13 and 2,190 counts of incest against minors.

The Greene County court sentenced Perry to three thousand years in prison on Tuesday, making it one of the longest sentences in Pennsylvania and the United States. Before 3523, he will not be eligible for parole.
