Local news reports say Las Vegas prosecutors will not seek the death penalty for a 28-year-old woman accused of murdering her mother in October 2022 with broken glass.
Hend Bustami, age 28, has entered a not guilty plea to an open murder charge in Clark County, Nevada, in connection with the death of her mother, Afaf Hussanen, age 61, which occurred on October 26 in their home in Las Vegas. According to the records of the county, she is also accused of evading arrest in San Bernardino County, which is located in the state of California.
Las Vegas Court Prove Suspect Guilt With Evidence
Shards of broken glass can be seen on the ground in photos taken at the crime scene, and pictures of Bustami’s arrest in California show that she had cuts on her hands. In court, this evidence was presented.
According to the outlet, the prosecutors also presented a recording of a 911 call in which Bustami can allegedly be heard confessing to having committed the crime.
Bustami responded to the dispatcher’s question about why the caller believes she murdered her mother by saying that she did so and severed her mother’s neck with a piece of broken glass.

Bustami Was arrested At The Airport
About two months prior to Hussanen’s murder, on August 31, Bustami was arrested at Harry Reid International Airport in Paradise, Nevada for violating airport rules and failing to pay a Chili’s restaurant bill.
She told the police that they were only arresting her because they had never seen anyone as beautiful, according to the police report.
The report states that at the time, police stated that the 28-year-old was aggressive with officers, claiming that she was being harassed because officers had never seen someone as beautiful as her, etc.
The report claims that Bustami, who was wanted for questioning at the time and was in possession of an active arrest warrant, threatened to spit on the police and claimed that they were perverts who were trying to rape her because they had never seen anyone so attractive.
