In response to the pandemic, the federal government issued the final stimulus checks in March 2021.
Stimulus Checks For Some States
Nonetheless, a few states will continue providing financial aid to citizens in 2023. In fact, in spring, some New Jersey and Alaskan taxpayers will receive payments totaling more than $1,000.
Alaska: Permanent Fund Dividend
Via the Permanent Fund Dividend program, the Alaskan government has been giving state residents a share of investment income from oil earnings for the past 41 years.
Due to an added $662.19 energy relief benefit this year, the compensation per accepted applicant will be $3,284, which is a higher amount than usual. The payout’s energy-relief element is exempt from taxes.
New Jersey: ANCHOR Property Tax Relief
In order to counter years of property tax increases, the ANCHOR Property Tax Relief program, which is replacing the Homestead Benefit, was developed.
Applicants must have owned or rented their primary residence as of October 19, 2019, and they must submit state income taxes in New Jersey or qualify for an exemption from doing so.
Additionally, they must achieve the following annual income requirements:
- Homeowners will receive $1,500 up to $150,000 and $1,000 between $150,000 and $250,000.
- Renters: $450 will be provided for up to $150,000
These kinds of relief initiatives typically exclude renters. Renters will receive payments to help offset the sharp rise in housing costs.
The program’s application period ended on February 28. Qualifying residents will receive payments through May in the form of checks or direct deposits, and they are exempt from both federal and state income taxes.
