New Hampshire officials announced on Monday that the father of Harmony Montgomery, a child who vanished in 2019, was arrested for her murder.
Adam Montgomery, 32, is charged with second-degree murder, witness tampering, falsifying evidence, and abuse of a corpse, according to New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella’s Monday press conference.
Harmony Montgomery Abused By Father
According to the prosecution, Adam Montgomery allegedly repeatedly hit his daughter in the head on or around December 7, 2019. Based on the prosecution, the defendant is accused of pressuring his wife to give false testimony, which led to the charge of tampering with a witness.
Authorities declared in August of this year that they had found evidence that Harmony had been murdered in Manchester at the start of December 2019.
The remains of Harmony have not been located. She would be eight years old if she were alive today.
In Harmony’s case, the court order to send her to New Hampshire to live with her father and stepmother was made in 2019, according to a state report from February. Crystal Sorey, Harmony’s mother, told officials that the last time she saw her daughter was via FaceTime in the spring of 2019.
In July 2019, an anonymous call was made to New Hampshire’s Division for Children, Youth, and Families claiming that during a visit a week prior, Adam Montgomery acknowledged to the report that he gave Harmony a black eye.
The report states that Harmony was visited by a caseworker on the day of the anonymous call, but they failed to notice that she had a black eye.

New Hampshire Received Anonymous Tip
A week later, the same case worker allegedly noticed a red mark and faded bruises beneath Harmony’s eyelid. Harmony and her father explained to the employee that a toy used during play was what caused the mark.
Adam Montgomery tried to give conflicting and unconvincing explanations of Harmony’s whereabouts when the police found him in December 2021, the report states.
Supposedly, Adam Montgomery told police According to the report, Harmony was picked up by her mother, despite Kayla Montgomery telling police that Adam Montgomery told her he drove Harmony back to her mother the day after Thanksgiving in 2019, that statement was refuted by Kayla Montgomery.
Formella stated that Adam Montgomery’s arraignment is anticipated to occur on Tuesday.
