Washington shoplifter was convicted after having ripped off at least a half inch of a security guard’s ear

Washington County, Oregon prosecutors confirmed that a shoplifter was sentenced for biting off a security guard’s ear.

Ashlie Faces Over Five Years In Prison

On Friday, Ashlie Ruth Clark, age 31, was given a prison sentence of five years and eight months after pleading guilty to the charges of second-degree assault and attempted first-degree robbery.

In addition to that, she is required to undergo three years of post-release supervision. The judge who handed down the sentence was an experienced one named John Collins.

The authorities claim that on July 22, 2022,  Ashlie stole more than $800 worth of merchandise from the department store located in the Washington Square Mall known as Nordstrom.

According to what they say happened, three security guards confronted her as she was leaving without paying.

Ashlie reportedly engaged in a physical altercation and yelled profanities as they attempted to recover the stolen goods, according to the prosecution’s written evidence. She bit one of the loss prevention officers during the struggle, removing at least half an inch of tissue from the earlobe.

Defendant To Serve Her Sentence In Oregon

Authorities claim that Ashlie gave a false name and birthdate when she was being arrested.  According to the DA’s office, law enforcement discovered she had two outstanding warrants for her arrest.

Prosecutors stated, “The victim went to the hospital, but her earlobe could not be reattached surgically.”

The prosecuting attorneys expressed their gratitude to the Nordstrom security team as well as the other individuals who assisted with the investigation.

The Washington County District Attorney’s Office would like to express its gratitude to the Tigard Police Department, the loss prevention team at Nordstrom, and the security staff at the Washington Square Mall for their assistance with this investigation.
