Kim Jong Un calls for North Korea to be prepared for nuclear counter strikes to deter war

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has said that North Korea must be prepared to launch nuclear counterstrikes at any time to deter war.

He charged that joint military exercises between the US and South Korea had increased close to the border of the nation. Kim made these comments after supervising combined tactical drills that simulated a nuclear counterattack against North Korea’s enemies

North Korea’s Ballistic Missile

North Korean media reported that a ballistic missile equipped with a mock nuclear warhead was launched and hit a target at an altitude of 800 meters under the scenario of a tactical nuclear attack.

The drills were intended to familiarize North Korean troops with any unexpected circumstances and prepare them to make an immediate and overwhelming nuclear counterattack at any time.

Kim Jong Un emphasized the importance of continuously organizing and conducting such drills under the simulated conditions of an actual war.

Kim’s daughter, Kim Ju Ae, who is believed to be around 9 years old, was seen alongside him in state-run media images.

Since it was established by Kim Il Sung in 1948, North Korea has been governed by an inherited dictatorship. His son Kim Jong Il assumed leadership after his passing in 1994, and Kim Jong Un did the same 17 years later.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has said that North Korea must be prepared to launch nuclear counter strikes at any time to deter war.

The country has recently revealed its nuclear counterattack simulation, which came after US strategic bombers participated in joint air drills with South Korean forces on Sunday.

North Korea accused the US and South Korea of expanding joint military drills involving American nuclear assets and called for North Korea to “bolster up its nuclear war deterrence exponentially.”

The two-day nuclear counterattack drill was divided into an exercise for managing the nuclear strike control system and another drill for launching a tactical ballistic missile tipped with a mock nuclear warhead.

North Korea has responded angrily to joint military exercises between South Korea and the US, labeling them a practice for an invasion against it.

The US and South Korean navies and marine corps are set to kick off their first large-scale Ssangyong amphibious landing exercises in five years on Monday for a two-week run until April 3.
