One kid was killed and another injured due to gunfire outside a Texas high school early on Monday morning. The accused shooter was taken into custody without incident.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram said that police received multiple reports of shots fired at Lamar High School in Arlington shortly before 7 a.m.
Texas High School Killing
Upon arriving in the school’s parking lot, officers discovered a male student with a life-threatening gunshot wound and a female student with non-life-threatening injuries after shrapnel grazed her face, according to reports.
The school was placed on lockdown, and the alleged gunman, thought to be a student at the school, was taken into custody nearby.
Jesse Minton, an Arlington police spokesperson, stated at a news briefing, “This incident occurred before the school opened at 7:35 a.m., so fortunately we do not have a full school to deal with.”

Local Hospital Pronounces Male Victim Dead
According to press reports, police have not disclosed the names of the victims, the perpetrator, or the motivation for the shooting.
When the school was cleared, Arlington police reported on Twitter that the lockdown was lifted at 10:30 p.m. and students were bused to a nearby location where parents could pick them up.
The school was placed on lockdown, and the suspected shooter is thought to be a student. Monday was the first day of school following spring break in Arlington.
President of the Arlington Independent School District’s board of education Melody Fowler told the Star-Telegram that improved metal detectors were recently placed at the school.
Melody Fowler said, “We advise our parents to keep their firearms locked up,” preventing their children from accessing any firearms in the home. Obviously, we cannot monitor every residence to ensure that this is being done.”
About ten months have passed since 19 students and two teachers were murdered at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
