Six states are offering tax rebates and relief checks worth up to $3,284 per person in one of them.
While many Americans continue to struggle to make ends meet in early 2023, this is primarily due to inflation and the ever-increasing prices of ordinary living expenses, particularly energy, as chilly conditions continue to sweep the country.

Alaska
Alaska will continue to deliver its Permanent Fund Dividend, which is a payment provided to people as part of the state’s oil income, beginning in 2022.
Because it was combined with an energy relief payment, the cheque is worth $3,284. Residents will, however, be required to record this contribution on their 2023 taxes.
Connecticut
According to the state comptroller’s office, payments from Connecticut’s Premium Pay program will begin in the next five to six weeks. The payments of up to $1,000 are expected to come between March 1 and March 11.
Those who applied by October 1 will get payments ranging from $200 to $1,000, with full-time essential workers earning less than $50,000 eligible for the highest payout of $1,000.
Essential workers earning more than $50,000 will receive less for each additional $10,000 earned annually, with $800 provided to workers earning between $50,000 and $60,000, $750 given to workers earning between $60,000 and $70,000, and so on.

When the Springboard for the Arts pilot program covers 75 artists from St. Paul and Otter Tail County, some artists in the Minnesota area will receive a monthly payment of guaranteed income worth $500 for the next 18 months.
South Carolina
Taxpayers can receive a rebate of up to $800. Payments began at the end of last year, however, those who filed after the 17th of October but before the 15th of February 2023 will receive their refund by the 31st of March of this year.
Idaho
Tax refunds of $300 for individual filers and $600 for joint filers, or 10% of a taxpayer’s 2020 income tax, whichever is larger, have been granted by Governor Brad Little. The tax commission intends to give out approximately 800,000 refunds totaling $500 million by the end of March this year.
Maine
In Maine, Governor Janet Mills’ Emergency Energy Relief Plan, which was signed into law in January, continues to assist households in dealing with rising energy costs and inflation.
With around 880,000 residents eligible for this program, the state has sent approximately 200,000 payments worth $450 per week. To be eligible, a person must be a full-time resident of the state who was not identified as a dependent on their tax return for 2021.
