A former student of a New York teacher is accused of pushing a fifth-grade girl to change her gender without her parent’s knowledge.

According to a student, the teacher reportedly referred to the entire class as sexist little kids because they only played with classmates of the same gender.

Student Reveals ‘Sexist’ Act of Teacher

The unnamed student disclosed during a stormy school board meeting on Monday evening that Debra Rosenquist, her fifth-grade teacher at Terryville Road Elementary School in Port Jefferson Station, said the following.

The student said “I believe there were both males and girls in the class”, and they were hanging out together, The student told the board of the Comsewogue School District.

“I was personally upset” because her best friend in class is female and he thought why he would do that to him. “It affected me, and I was quite distressed,” the student added.

Previously, the student told that her teacher “targeted me” in class, adding, “I don’t know why, but I believed she didn’t like me.” 

The student, who did not specify when the claimed remarks were uttered, was one of more than a dozen speakers, including parents and local people, who addressed the school board meeting following the filing of the disturbing lawsuit.

Rosenquist reportedly discriminated against the student, who was designated female at birth and identified as female. According to student testimonies, Rosenquist began using the student’s masculine name and pronouns. The student plaintiff and his parents are not identified in court filings.

Indeed, the student became unsure of his gender. Despite being aware of Rosenquist’s actions, it took the District, Director Quinn, and Principal Sciove months to inform his parents, according to the lawsuit.

Rosenquist pursued his own agenda beyond the curriculum, which included pushing his 5th-grade children to attempt ‘being gay’ or to be a different gender even when they were not. sexuality that was not in the curriculum, the lawsuit stated.

In a meeting with parents, the district admitted that it was unaware that Rosenquist was using a book about LGBTQ+ individuals that were not part of the curriculum and that the book was so thorough about transitioning, surgery, and hormones. One of the books Rosenquist used was When Aidan Became a Brother, According to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit said, Rosenquist also urged his classmates to experiment with being gay or a guy if they were a girl or a girl if they were a boy. The Brookhaven-Comsewogue School District was aware of his actions, as they were believed to have been reported to the District, the Lawsuit added.

Superintendent Quinn issued the following statement: After conducting a comprehensive investigation and consulting with our attorney, we take action in accordance with the applicable laws and collective bargaining agreements. Please have confidence that this has been completed.

Due to existing litigation, Quinn stated that he was constrained in his ability to speak.
