Last year, more than 50 million Americans received a state tax refund or stimulus check to combat inflation, soaring oil prices, and other challenges.
In an effort to boost businesses and consumers, the U.S. government enacted a series of stimulus packages almost immediately. Nevertheless, what if your state issued a relief payment and you did not get it?
Missing State’s Stimulus Check
Most Alaskans get a Permanent Fund Dividend each year, allowing them to participate in the state’s oil and mineral profits. PFD checks increased by 195% in 2022 as a result of rising oil prices and a special one-time energy assistance payment of $650. In 2022, PFD checks reached $3,284, a 195% increase from the previous year.
The Alaska Department of Revenue began issuing payments to qualified people on September 20, 2022, but some are still en route.
California
Nearly 31 million Californians received inflation relief checks in the amount of up to $1,050 via direct deposit or debit card. The state said that 95% of the payments were issued by the end of 2022, and the last checks are scheduled to be sent in mid-February 2023 and received by January 15, 2023.
The amount received by California residents was determined by their income, tax filing status, and household size.
The payments were disallowed for single taxpayers earning $250,000 or more and couples earning a combined total of $500,000.
If you feel you are eligible but have not received a payment by February 14, 2023, please contact the California Franchise Tax Board’s customer service at (800) 542-5400.
Colorado
Under the Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) Act of 1992, state citizens who filed their 2021 tax return by June 30 should have received a $750 tangible check by September 30. (Joint filers were granted $1,500.)

Delaware
As Delaware Governor John Carney approved the Delaware Relief Rebate Program in April, residents who submitted their 2020 tax returns received a $300 stimulus payment.

What To Do If I Didn’t Receive Payment?
According to the Franchise Tax Board, by the end of 2022, roughly 95% of MCTR payments had been issued. Californians who got funds from either wave of Golden State Stimulus payments were the first to receive direct installments, which were expected to arrive prior to October 25, 2022.
Between October 28 and November 14, 2022, the remaining direct deposits were purportedly issued. If you updated your banking information after completing your 2021 tax return, or if you never set up direct deposit, you likely received a Money Network debit card instead of a direct deposit.
State officials estimated that the last cards should have been delivered by February 14, 2023. The first cards were sent out on December 17, 2022. If you feel you were eligible for a Middle-Class Tax Refund but did not receive a payment, call the Franchise Tax Board’s customer care number at (800) 542-6600. It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
