The 500 million dollar superyacht Koru, codenamed Y721, owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and coded Y721 has been observed in the North Sea after leaving Rotterdam on February 13, according to footage uploaded by Dutch Yachting.
The gigantic 417-foot warship was not delivered to the 59-year-old tycoon until months after its test run.
Jeff Bezos’ Mega Yatch
Throughout the years-long development and construction process, Oceanco referred to the $500 million sailing boat by its internal serial number, Y721. The yacht is now known by the name bestowed upon it by its mega-wealthy owner: The Koru, A Koru is a Mori symbol that represents the unfurling spiral of a fern frond.
Last year, Bezos’ mega-yacht sparked controversy when it was reported that Dutch officials would have to demolish the historic Koningshaven Bridge because the 130-foot steel structure would not enable the vessel and its 229-foot masts to pass.
The yacht was transported from its building site to another shipyard in a neighboring city without its masts after local politicians determined the idea was too far-reaching in response to a public outcry.
Residents of Rotterdam reportedly vowed in February that they would pelt Bezos’ superyacht with eggs if it crossed the De Hef bridge.
And when it was eventually time to relocate the vessel from its Dutch shipbuilding yard, it was decided to pull it away at night, according to the Cut.
Operating Koru costs approximately $25 million per year. The vessel can hold 18 passengers and requires a crew of forty seamen.

Is It The World’s Most Expensive Yacht?
That is not the most costly yacht in the world. This dubious distinction belongs to the $4.8 billion History of A gold and platinum-plated cup with a Tyrannosaurus rex bone wall fashioned from meteoric rock.
The property was purchased in 2011 by an unidentified Malaysian businessman.
Forbes estimated that the creator of Amazon had a net worth of $181 billion, making the price tag of $500 million a relative drop in the ocean.
The billionaire and his millionaire girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez, will add Koru to their existing fleet of superyachts, helicopters, and planes.
Once delivered to Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos, the Koru will be the world’s largest sailing sailboat. Currently, it is undergoing open-sea testing, which is one of the final steps before delivery. The YouTube channel for enthusiasts of large boats, Dutch Yachting, uploaded footage of the testing earlier this week.
