The White House confirmed that US President Joe Biden had a malignant skin lesion removed from his chest last month.
The lesion removed during a normal health screening revealed a basal cell carcinoma, a common kind of skin cancer, according to the patient’s doctor, who added on Friday that no additional treatment was necessary.
Joe Biden Physical Examination
Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Mr. Biden’s longstanding White House physician, stated that all malignant tissue was effectively removed at the president’s February 16 physical exam.
Dr. O’Connor found that Mr. Biden, age 80, is healthy, robust, and able to fulfill his White House duties. This development occurs only weeks before Mr. Biden is slated to launch his 2024 re-election campaign.
The surgical incision on Mr. Biden’s chest has healed well, according to Dr. O’Connor, and the president will continue to undergo regular skin examinations as part of his usual health plan.
Dr. O’Connor stated in his February 16 report of the president’s health that Mr. Biden had many localized non-melanoma skin tumors removed before he began his administration.
Jill Biden had two basal cell tumors removed from her right eye and chest in January.

Advocates Against Cancer
The Bidens have been longtime campaigners for cancer prevention. Their adult son Beau died of brain cancer in 2015. In July of last year, Mr. Biden disclosed his cancer diagnosis at a speech on climate change.
The President of the United States talked at the site of a former coal-fired power plant in Somerset, Massachusetts, about his background in the oil-rich city of Claymont, Delaware.
According to a White House health assessment, President Biden spent much time in the sun throughout his teenage years.
Before entering the presidency, he underwent Mohs surgery to remove many localized non-melanoma skin cancers. The edges of these lesions were completely excised.
A full-body skin check was carried out for dermatologic surveillance, the report claims. Cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen has been used to treat a few small areas of actinic alteration, but no skin cancer is currently thought to be present. A biopsy was not necessary.
