As police arrived to serve the family with eviction notices from their foreclosed home, an Ohio woman fatally shot her husband, son, and father, critically wounded her daughter, and then turned the pistol on herself, according to investigators.
According to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, Theresa Cain, 46, shot and killed her father William Felton, 74, her husband Steven Cain, 50, their son Ethan Cain, 13, and themselves on Monday in their Ohio Township home.
Mom Kills Family Members
Samantha Cain, the mother’s 20-year-old daughter, was also shot and is still in critical condition. According to a news statement from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, Theresa Cain, 46, shot and killed three members of her family on February 27 based on physical evidence and the posture of the bodies.
Deputies heard a string of five rapid gunfire just before police arrived at the Cains’ residence in the Cincinnati suburb of Ohio Township.
The people inside could not be reached despite multiple attempts by deputies. The Sheriff’s Special Response Team, on the other hand, arrived at the site and went inside the house.
Sheriff Steve Leahy of Clermont County claims that they think the rounds were fired in an effort to keep the deputies outside. Just 30 minutes earlier, according to Leahy, Steven Cane was shot and murdered in the basement, and Teresa’s father, her son Ethan, and Samantha were all shot soon before the cops arrived.

Ohio Family Faces Financial Dilemma
Authorities concluded that Theresa’s motivation was pecuniary after learning that the Cain family had experienced financial difficulties prior to the eviction. When Cain’s husband was discovered dead on a downstairs sofa, detectives discovered a.38-caliber handgun that they think she used to shoot him.
Both Cain and the rest of the family were discovered upstairs. According to the detectives, the victims were awake when they were killed and probably knew what was going on. Authorities think they were killed just before the cops showed up at the house.
Samantha Cain is now in a coma, but doctors believe she has a fair chance of surviving, according to information provided by a relative on Thursday. The New Richmond School District, where both of the Cain children attended school, has been devastated by the incident.
Theresa Cain’s husband, Steve Cain, sang with the thrash metal band Critical Khaos. On October 25, Steve posted a message introducing himself on the Critical Khaos Facebook page. In the essay, he asserted that he was originally from Augusta, Georgia, and that he later moved to Cincinnati in 2015 after first going to Connecticut in 2012.
He managed safety and environmental issues for a research and development center full-time. In addition, Cain had 13 books published, including a horror novel, short stories, and poems.
Cain cited Crimson Glory, Queensryche, King Diamond, Stryper, and Prince as some of his musical influences. The GoFundMe page set up by the family of Cain’s sister to assist in paying the burial costs for Stephen and his son Ethan was shared by Cain’s bandmates.
