Meta is lowering costs for two of its virtual reality headsets to increase adoption of the emerging technology it has gambled its future on.
The business said on Friday that it will reduce the price of its high-end Meta Quest Pro headset by around $500, bringing the price down to $999 approximately six months after its release.

Meta’s Quest 2 headset will also drop from $499.99 to $429.99. On Sunday, the price reduction for the Quest 2 will take effect in over a dozen nations, including the United States.
The price reduction for Quest Pro will go into effect on the same day in the United States and Canada, and on March 15 in all other countries where it is offered.

Meta may find it more difficult to accept these losses at a time when the company is laying off thousands of workers and focusing on making 2023 an efficient year.
But, according to a blog post published on Friday, Meta is committed to creating a robust VR market for developers, businesses, and creators.
