An elderly woman lost her life while attempting to save her dog from an alligator attack in a senior living facility in St. Lucie County, Florida.

Then, as she was attempting to save her pet, Serge, the reptile turned on him. She reportedly got dragged into the water by it. According to the commission, Serge passed away as a result of the encounter. The dog suffered no harm. The alligator was killed by a trapper, according to the commission.

Although this was at least the third fatal encounter in the past year, the commission noted that alligators rarely cause serious injuries in Florida. A bystander dialed 911.

An 80-year-old woman was killed by two alligators in July 2022 in Englewood, Florida, after she fell into a pond close to her home, according to the authorities. The body of a 47-year-old man who had been bringing Frisbees back from a lake in Largo, Florida, was discovered by the authorities in May 2022. He was thought to be the first person to die in Florida from an alligator attack since 2019.

In the most recent episode, a neighbor named Carol Thomas told CBS12.com that she had heard a disturbance and looked up to see Ms. Serge being grabbed by the leg and being pulled into a retention pond at Spanish Lakes Fairways, a 55+ community in Fort Pierce.
Ms. Thomas sat up when Ms. Serge did.

Ms. Serge enjoyed playing bocce with her husband, Charlie, who oversaw the activity at Spanish Lakes Fairways before his passing several years ago, according to Carol Volpini, a local of Spanish Lakes, who spoke about her in an interview on Tuesday. Charlie had been in charge of the activity.

When it comes to the 10-foot alligator that was captured and forced into the back of a truck after its fatal encounter with Ms. Serge, Mr. Volpini claimed that he occasionally saw smaller alligators in the ponds and pipes surrounding Spanish Lakes Fairways.
