Nine children, including a 5-year-old, were shot at a gas station in a Georgia city bordering Alabama, authorities said Saturday.

The ages of the victims, which varied from 5 to 17 years old, were not revealed. According to the officials, there were seven men and two women who were hurt.

According to Blackmon, as of Saturday afternoon, at least four of the victims had been discharged from the hospitals where they had been treated. It appeared as though none of the injuries were life-threatening, as reported by the police.

Blackmon pleaded with the parents in the neighborhood to keep an eye on their children and pay attention to what they had. He suggested that we should make it a priority to educate our children about how to resolve problems without resorting to physical violence. We have to work inside the community to discover an approach that will allow us to reclaim our youth.

There have been no arrests made, and Blackmon did not indicate whether or not the authorities have identified any suspects. The city of Columbus is located around 177 kilometers south of Atlanta and 85 kilometers east of Birmingham.
