According to a fresh intelligence report, Russia has deployed nuclear-armed vessels in the Arctic for the first time in 30 years.
During the Cold War, ships of the former Soviet Union’s Northern Fleet routinely deployed nuclear weapons, but this is the first time that modern Russia has done so.
Russia Tests Zircon Hypersonic Missile
In a show of might to the West, Russia has just flown two of its Tu-95 “Bear” nuclear bombers near Alaska.
The Norwegian Intelligence Service disclosed Russia’s redeployment in its yearly report.
The Northern Fleet is in charge of the Arctic and is headquartered in Severomorsk.
Russian-guided missile frigate Admiral Gorshkov has been used in tests of the nuclear-capable Zircon hypersonic missile in the Barents Sea of the Arctic.
Since Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine, the Kremlin has reportedly “substantially boosted” its military presence there, according to Britain.
Russian video shows the TU-95 bombers flying over the Bering Sea’s neutral waters with 30 Russian fighter jets in close proximity to US airspace.
Additionally, Russia has flown two Tu-160 nuclear bombers at supersonic speeds in the Norwegian Sea, close to the British Isles. Vladimir Putin has used his strategic aircraft twice this week.
As Russia gears up to commemorate the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine on February 24, the warmonger’s actions are perceived as a message to the West.
Russian Assault Starts In Full Force
The Russian onslaught, according to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, has already started.
He said that Russia was sending more troops, more weapons, and more capabilities to the Ukrainian conflict in remarks made before a two-day conference of NATO defense ministers in Brussels.
Russia is said to be massing 1,800 tanks, 3,950 armored vehicles, 400 fighter planes, and 300 helicopters for the invasion, according to a Ukrainian official.
As they continue to beg for Western assistance, especially during Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to London last week, Ukraine has been keeping an eye on the military build-up.
Zelensky thanked the UK for its cooperation but cautioned that it might not be adequate and demanded the use of contemporary fighter aircraft.
