It was announced that eight humanoid robots have been the main attractions at the United Nations’ first summit on the benefits of artificial intelligence since the beginning of the global pandemic.
The AI for Good Global Summit will return to Geneva on July 6 and 7 after a three-year hiatus imposed by Covid, according to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) of the United Nations.
How AI Helps SDGs Achievements?
The purpose of the event is to demonstrate how artificial intelligence and other new technologies can aid in achieving the so-called sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, such as combating climate change and enhancing humanitarian action.
In 2015, UN member states adopted the 17 SDGs. Achieving food security, eradicating poverty, and providing access to clean and affordable energy by 2030 is among their goals.
ITU stated that during the July event, eight humanoid social robots and over twenty specialized robots will be brought together for the first time.
The humanoid robots Beonmi, Nadine, Sophia, Geminoid, 4NE-1, Ai-Da Robot, Grace, and Desdemona will demonstrate capabilities ranging from fighting fires and delivering aid to providing healthcare and sustainable farming, according to the statement.
At the event, government officials, industry executives, academics, and heads of UN agencies will discuss the policies, regulations, and standards required for AI to promote sustainable development.

In addition, the most recent example of a technology poised to replace human labor is ChatGPT, the Open AI-developed chatbot auto-generative system for online customer service. It is a pre-trained generative chat that employs NLP (natural language processing). Textbooks, websites, and various articles serve as its data source, which it is using to model its own language for responding to human interaction.
There’s no reason to doubt that a number of CEOs might think, A self-teaching artificial intelligence system that works 24/7/365, never calls in sick, does not require food or bathroom breaks, and does not require health care.
Microsoft, which is laying off 10,000 employees, reportedly announced a multiyear, multibillion-dollar investment in this revolutionary technology, which is apparently becoming smarter by the day.
Are certain jobs in journalism, finance, software design, higher education, and other fields susceptible to ChatGPT’s conquest? More and more individuals are becoming concerned that this may be the case.
During a three-month AI experiment, the technology news outlet CNET admitted to using ChatGPT to generate more than seventy articles. If a still-learning ChatGPT can produce 70 articles, how long until a well-educated ChatGPT can replace human writers and produce all the articles?
In the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence, science is making exponential progress. Surely, sooner or later, these innovations will affect the majority of careers.
If you believe that these amazing advances in robotics and AI won’t eliminate hundreds of thousands of jobs in the near future, you may be living in a fantasy world.
