Google Destruction Could Start Through AI Development

Gmail developer Paul Buchheit asserts that artificial intelligence chatbots like ChatGPT will kill Google in a similar manner to how the search engine killed the Yellow Pages.

Google may be only one or two years away from complete disruption, tweeted Buchheit on Wednesday. AI will remove the Search Engine Result Page, where the majority of their revenue is generated. Even if they catch up to AI, they cannot completely implement it without jeopardizing their most important asset!.

While the developer of Gmail stated that it may not be ChatGPT that breaks Google’s monopoly, technological advances would undoubtedly alter how people access information.

On Twitter, he asserted that artificial intelligence (AI) had replaced the browser’s URL/Search box and was now auto-filling his thoughts as he types them and provides the best response, which might be a connection to a website or object.

When using a search engine like Google, things that would take people many minutes to do would be completed instantaneously by AI.

The developer of Gmail is not the first to express concern about ChatGPT’s potential influence on Google. The tech giant issued a code red warning on the chatbot in December.

In January, the business also enlisted the support of Google cofounders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. The Information reported at the time that Microsoft intended to employ ChatGPT to power its Bing search engine.
