An American doctor has joined calls for the withdrawal of the COVID-19 vaccine, citing new research indicating a link between the shots and adverse events.
Dr. Joseph Fraiman, a Louisiana-based doctor who also conducts research on COVID-19 and other health issues, believes it is time to halt the administration of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines until new clinical trials show that the benefits outweigh the risks.
COVID-19 Vaccine Linked To Cardiac Arrest
According to the doctor, the new research, which includes a reanalysis of the vaccine trials, raises questions about whether the benefits of the vaccines outweigh the risks.
The warning was for an ischemic stroke, which is caused by blood clotting. The signal was activated for people aged 65 and up, according to the CDC and the United States. According to a joint statement from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
When an adverse event, such as a stroke, occurs at a certain rate following vaccination, safety signals are activated. Signals point to a link between an adverse event and a vaccine, but more research is needed to confirm this.
The agencies did not specify when the signal was detected, only that it occurred after the updated shot became available in early September 2022. Both agencies did not respond to requests for comment.
According to US authorities, other vaccine safety monitoring systems, such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, have not detected a signal for ischemic stroke among the elderly or other age groups.
“Although the totality of the data currently suggests that it is very unlikely that the signal in VSD represents a true clinical risk, we believe it is important to share this information with the public, as we have in the past when one of our safety monitoring systems detects a signal,” the agencies said.
In accordance with a previous announcement, the FDA will consult with the panel that provides it with vaccine advice “to consider whether and how the composition for primary doses of the currently available COVID-19 vaccines should be modified and whether and how the composition and schedule for booster doses should be adjusted moving forward.”
An ischemic stroke, also known as an embolic stroke, is caused by a blood clot that “blocks or plugs a blood vessel in the brain,” according to the National Library of Medicine. The blockage usually prevents blood from flowing to the brain and causes brain cells to die quickly. Other COVID-19 vaccines are suspected of causing ischemic stroke.
According to the CDC and the FDA, the stroke signal was not detected in the updated Moderna vaccine. Multiple side effects, including myocarditis, a type of heart inflammation, have been linked to the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

Reanalysis of Pfizer, Moderna Trials
Fraiman oversaw a reanalysis of the original Pfizer and Moderna trials. He and his colleagues concluded in a peer-reviewed study that the vaccinated were at a higher risk of serious adverse events.
That’s just one piece of information. Another is the identification of safety signals or adverse events, that may be caused by vaccines but require further investigation. In December 2022, the FDA revealed that the Pfizer vaccine was linked to blood clotting in elderly people.
Several serious problems that can result in death have been linked to or proven to be caused by vaccines. Myocarditis, or heart inflammation, is one of them.
While health officials in the United States have repeatedly downplayed the severity of myocarditis and a related condition, pericarditis, German researchers who investigated the deaths of 25 people who died suddenly at home after vaccination ruled out every possible cause except vaccination for five of the people. They published their findings in a study after peer review in late 2022.
Fraiman also noted that excess mortality, or deaths from any cause, has increased during the pandemic, with spikes coincident with the introduction of vaccines. Vaccines may not have caused the extra deaths, he claims, but some researchers, including British professors Norman Fenton and Martin Neil, have examined the data and discovered evidence that vaccines were responsible for at least some of the extra deaths. Officials in the United States believe COVID-19 is to blame for some of the deaths.
