As part of the guaranteed basic income project, the city of St. Louis, Missouri, has approved a scheme to distribute $500 in monthly relief checks to its residents.

The objective is to provide families with the opportunity to pay off debt and rent, as well as buy essential food or groceries for their children. If this idea is fully accepted, parents or guardians with modest incomes whose children attend public schools in the city would be eligible for these payments.

This is a tremendous opportunity for the city of St. Louis to support working parents and their children while also decreasing racial and gender inequalities.

Other locations that offer monthly payouts include various programs in the states of California, Massachusetts, and Illinois, among others.

In addition, these payments to needy families fall between $300 and $500. However, there is a program in San Francisco called as the guaranteed income program that will provide $1,200 in monthly payments. December 15 marked the end of the application deadline.
