Pennsylvania property tax rebate: Who can apply for rent rebate until December 31?

Those who have not yet submitted an application for the Pennsylvania rent and property tax rebate program must act immediately.

Less than ten days remain for them to apply for the Pennsylvania property tax and rent refund. The deadline for filing a claim for the property tax and rent rebate is December 31, 2022.

Property Tax, Rent Rebate Program

Governor Tom Wolf originally proposed sending more funds to qualified residents early this year. It is important to understand that the program gives two distinct reimbursements, one for homeowners and one for renters.

The rent and property tax rebates program in Pennsylvania uses $140 million from the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The major goal of the program is to assist elderly and disabled Pennsylvanians with housing expenses.

For people to qualify for the property tax and rent rebate, they must be 65 or older. In addition, widows and widowers aged 50 or older are eligible for the refund, but those with impairments must be at least 18 years old.

There are also income requirements. The maximum yearly income for homeowners is $35,000, while the limit for renters is $15,000. For the purpose of the refund, only half of any social security benefits will be included in the yearly income.

In addition, spouses, personal agents, or estates may file rebate claims on behalf of claimants who lived at least one day in 2021 and fulfilled all other qualifying requirements, according to the program’s website.

The refund amount depends on whether the applicant is a homeowner or renter, as well as their yearly income and region. The maximum amount of a rebate is $650.

If you feel you qualify, you must submit a claim for the Pennsylvania property tax and rent rebate by December 31. You may submit an application for the Pennsylvania property tax and rent rebate either online or on paper.
